1. The Refugee Market samosa shop finally will down its shutters this weekend ending an era that lasted for 62 years. Proprietor Ram Charan Singh said that the tightening of exit routes from Modern School had severely affected their business as their main clientele comprised students and faculty from the school. Without their continued patronage he was finding it difficult to keep things afloat.
The closing down of this landmark institution has provoked widespread reaction amongst nostalgia struck Modernites across the globe. The organizing committee of MHS 84 an alumni group have appealed to the Prime Minister to step in and declare it as a heritage site and disburse funds to maintain it. Highly placed sources in the PMO say 'the matter is being given serious thought'. Meanwhile preparations for closure are fully on track.
2. Superpower MHS has taken the lead in discussions on climate change being held at a high level summit at Manesar on the outskirts of Delhi. It has pledged concrete action to bring down soaring temperatures. Some of the initiatives promised by the superpower include an increase in the length of skirts worn by its female students, a reduction in hot headedness displayed by its school teams at sporting events and a decrease in noise emissions from it's premises at all times of the day. Analysts see this as a major shift from their usually aggressive stance at all global forums. Sources in the school who do not wish to quoted say this is in tune with the MHS policy of retaining the lead on Saving the Planet.
3. Dari's of Sir Shankarlal Hall were auctioned at Rotheby's for a record amount of a 100 million dollars. The unusual patterns formed by pigeon droppings accumulated over 5 decades of usage have been likened to a new symbol of revivalist nouvelle vogue art. Amidst intense bidding by anonymous investors in New York, Paris and Milan the art works were finally sold to an organization known as MHS 84 who are said to represent a consortium of nostalgia struck Modernites. Rotheby's official spokesperson refused to comment on the matter as he said 'our client's confidentiality is of paramount importance to us'
4. The India Yesterday Magazine's annual school rankings were released by the PM yesterday at a glittering ceremony in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Modern School Barakhamba Road won all top ten positions leaving all its rival schools far behind. India Yesterday officials say that this was a unanimous decision of all its board members as there was simply no other school with the same powerful combination of beauty and brains as Modern School - Barakhamba Road!
That’s all in this morning's bulletin. Have a nice day!
